Default Help with something really basic

We have setup D-Tools using lansync and I have completed the application settings, application project settings, etc using one of our pcs. Now when I log in with the from another pc I can not see and it seems it D-Tools uses the local setup settings. What is the procedure to setup everything on the server and to have this centrally and be able to view these from any user account and any pc?

I went to manage data, administration, lan sync and it tried to synchronize the setup from the pc that I have the correct data but it seems my other pc does not get these.

What is the best way to setup all the setup information centrally on the server and sync to all pcs and users and also lock it so no one of our users can change it?

Hello,

What you need to do (and may have done - if so let me know) is to 'Copy Up to Server' from the pc that you completed your setup on. Basically, this "builds" the LS database with all that updated local information. You do this from MMPD--> Administration--> LANSync. You must have appropriate permissions to do this.

There is another button "Copy Project Defaults" - this is used to send updated Setup information to the Server if you update it. The 'Copy Up to Server' sends everything including the Setup information so you woudl only use the Copy Project Defaults to send just that information (not MasterTable records like items)

Once the LS is built, from add'l pc's go to MMPD-->Administration-->LANSync and select the 'Copy Down to Local' option. This will copy down the information from the server and that workstation is now prepped to synchronize with the server.

Hope this helps!

OK, this is also very well understood

I am not sure this option is there! Is this maybe on Lansync admin console?

Also how do I make sure that our user do not have the rights to change anything from the setup parameters but also not to be able to change data in the database. Can we also hide cost prices?

Ryan, thank you for the help so far!

Default LanSync Administration

The copy down to local is located at the top portion of the screen - see attached screen shot.

Your LanSync Server Administration is where you control permissions for your users. The permissions are tied to a user group and your users assigned to a user group. There is no permission to actually hide the cost value from the users, but you can prevent them from changing that cost in the Master Database.

Ryan,

no worries I got it. This is what happens when you are trying to do things fast on something you are not familiar with...

Thanks for this. I will try to configure the user groups and permissions soon.
