Default Interconnects As Wire

Hey Guys, I have my interconnects set up as wire, so the shape on the schematic shows up as a wire. The problem is, it calculates by the foot. So it is assuming a 75ft length which makes the price very high. Is there a way I can specify that I want it to act as a wire in the wire wizard, and show as a wire in schematic view, but not calculate by the foot?

Thanks

Noah

Hi Noah,

There are a number or settings at play which is causing this issue for you.

The first of which is that you do not sound likle you have interconnects as accessories to the products that use interconnects.

The second is that it sounds as though you are building your project through the drawing process and not building your project in text to ensure completeness and then creating the drawings.

This link goes to a newsletter article we did that explains how to configure your database for custom length interconnects.

You can surely glean some knowledge from it, however the methodology is highly dependant on using D-Tools as described above, as well as bringing all your rough-in wire into a project through PACKAGES where wire length is set in the package, leaving you the option to set a very low default wire length in you project settings for that is appropriate for interconnects.

If you do nothing to address these compound issues, the short route is to just go to 'D-Tools>Options' in your project and set the default wire length in the project to something like '3' and leave that setting while you are generating you schematics.

Hey Kevin, thanks for responding. I am not referring to custom interconnects. I am talking about pre-built items. If I put it as a wire type, then the problem we are having is that it is assuming it is my default wirelength. I want it to be a set price, but still use the same shape as bulk wire. Also, I do find it easier to build the project in the schematic view because I can determine once all the proper connections are made, that the correct amount of interconnects/ IR bugs/ equipment is included. So far it has worked well for me.

Please let me know if there are any suggestions you have for keeping my default wire length the same (Mostly because I use that for bulk wire applications) but retain the same "wire properties" for the interconnects.

Thanks.

Noah

Oh - sorry I missed that.

Change the phase for all pre-built interconnects to the finish phase and the default wire length will not apply if your finish phase is configured as it came from D-Tools with regards to 'show head-end dialgoue'
