Default Wiring Packages and Head End Dialog

Is there a reason that wiring packages only prompt for a head end on cables that are *accessories*? I'm not necessarily complaining as frankly I dislike having to assign the head end one by one by one anyhow, I'm just curious why packages work this way.

When adding cables that are *not* packages you always have to select the head end, both for the main cable (bundle) and any accessory cables.

Also, when I *create* a package, why can't I assign a head end to cables that are accessories? It's nice to be able to assign a head end to cables that are not accessories, it save's a LOT of time. I want to be able to do the same with cables that are accessories.

David,

This is a database design issue. The packages database stores all products in a package and along with the package product it notes the associated headend. However the accessories to a product are stored with the product itself and not as part of the package definiton. So if you add any new accessories to a product they will appear for any packages this product is part of automatically.
So for wire accessories - if they are part of the package or not we would have to prompt for the headend unless we change the database design.
