Exclamation Sync Problem

Here's the situation...

I have at least 1 item (maybe more) on my laptop that is not getting updated with current info from my desktop. From my desktop I edited the item's I/O's, synchronized my desktop with the LANSync server, and closed D-Tools on my desktop. I open D-Tools on my laptop, synchronize my laptop with the LANSync server, and the item I/O's have not been updated nor have the dimensions.

I am the administrator.
ALL of my items in my DB are marked as approved.
This item is NOT marked as discontinued.
I have used Conflict Resolution on both clients.

What's the deal? It's driving me nuts.

Default Sync Problems worse than I thought!

So I opened up the local MasterDataTable on my Desktop and Laptop to compare them. The ID's on several of my items are different! Huh? Why is this? And how do I fix it?

CORRECTION! ALL items in each local Master Table have different ID numbers from the same item in the other local Master Table. Is this done on purpose? If so, why? But more inmportant, how do I solve my problem?

Exclamation More Sync Problems

I don't what is going on, but I did some more investigating.

The item referenced in the posts above is an "SATV HD SET TOP BOX" and has all the same information in the local Master Table on my laptop and my desktop with the exception of the I/O's. No amount of syncing with LANSync would get the I/O's to match/sync. So I changed the height for the item on my desktop and synced with the LANSync server. Then I opened D-Tools on my laptop and synced with the LANSync server.Well, it synced the I/O's so they now match, BUT now the item has a description for wire, a different phase, labor hours, etc. It's almost as if it has sync with some fields from 1 item and some fields from another. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Graham,

1. First for the same product the ID column will not match across your network. The ID is a MS-Access autonumber field generated by MS-Access which we cannot control. You can match instead on the EquipmentGUID column across databases on the same network.

2. I tried your problem with syncing IO and could not replicate. I tried editing a product IO with IO Studio in MMPD and then synced to server. On a different machine the IO did sync down for this product. I also could not replicate your problem of partial updates from different products as well.

I suggest on laptop you do a "Copy Down to Local" this will completly rewrite your local database with server data - then once again test if the IO data syncs between your desktop/laptop.

Thanks for the feedback Naresh. What would cause this behavior?

Graham,

I have not seen anything like this in testing and in reviewing the code also cannot speculate as to why it would happen.

I suggest this as a temp till we can replicate --

1. On laptop do a "Copy Down to Local" - this will sync it with server again completely.
2. Edit IO for product in MMPD on desktop and "Syncronize Now" (upload IO changes to server)
3. On laptop do "Synchronize Now" - this should download IO changes. Check if the IO is now correct.
