Default How Do You Address Different Units of Measure?

In QuickBooks Premier I can use a function called units of measure to enter items that I have to buy in one quantity but sell in another quantity. For instance, if I purchase banana plugs in pairs of 25, but sell them in individual pairs I can order them as 1 (which = 25 pr.) on the purchase order, which is what the manufacturer wants to see, but sell them as individual pairs.

Is there any way to address this in D-Tools when entering an item in the MMPD?

Another question is can I just price them in D-Tools as units, export the item to QuickBooks and adjust the units of measure in QuickBooks? I have not tried that yet.

No comments from anyone from D-Tools? Surely this is not the first time this has been asked or considered? Anyone?

Default future feature

Units of measure is a great feature and something we would like to incorporate into a future version. However it does require a fundamental change to our database schema, so it won't happen until we make that major change.

I know Randy , but what I am asking is has anyone developed a best practice as a workaround? Or has anyone tried to adjust the unit of measure in QB after exporting an item into QB and does it mess things up? I am going to try it myself, but I thought maybe someone had already gone further with this than I have.

This really needs to be addressed in a future release. There are soo many products that are sold in a particular quantity, but need to be broken up individually when sold. How about the most common one - speakers that are only sold in pairs as one item, but need to be shown and potentially sold individually on a project. Another prime example are things like rough-in packs where there may be 10 to 100 items in a pack, but you need to add the product one item at a time to a project.

My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but at one time I tested using Units (ft) in D-Tools, sending the SO to QB as Units. This will deduct Units as feet (wire) from inventory. However when orders are placed the item is purchased by the spool. I think this works. Please let me know if you discover otherwise.

Bump.

Has this been addressed?

In particular I want to address speakers, sold singles but must be bought in pairs. I don't keep inventory and purchase everything JIT so this is an important aspect for me.

Currently every product in D-Tools is in "each" quantity. It would be a nice feature, but as was said in an earlier post that is a major change in the database
