Default Including labor to packages totals...

Here's what I'm trying to do... When I build a package that consists of equipment and the attached labor, all I want is for the total price to include the sum of the equipment and the labor.

For instance, I want to sell a home theater package for $2999 that includes the equipment and labor. The total might be $3023, so I have to discount it $24 in the package total. However, what it is doing in the package is totalling the price for all the equipment, and sending the labor to the "labor total" for the proposal, but not adding the amount to the package price. So the package total may only show $2430 for instance (without the labor). There's no way for me to discount the equipment and the labor that are in the package to get to $2999?

This is driving me crazy and I can't figure out a work around. It doesn't matter if I attach labor to the individual items in the package, or, if I add a labor item like "Home Theater Install" for 8 hours. Has someone done this a different way, or is there a method to add labor in the package price and still be able to do labor reports?

Wink reports may help...

I did something similar, basically, after i could see the package was right, and i ran the report under the including labor report format like "Proposal (install price) by Zone and i built each package as a zone or system, like "theater" as a zone and "family media pkg" or "camera PKG" etc. then filter the report by the zone i needed. works good, but getting the price to exactly 2999.89 or whatever may be a challenge, but just add your discount the the proposal when you print or export to word...export to word instead of PDF and add a discount line! would that work for you? :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of this very spohisticated software to allow us to perform this kind of operation without using Word, Excel, or manipulating PDF files manually?

I think gotp got it right by suggesting you use the Proposal Install Price Report. This should work with the discount. If this isn't working I suggest you make an example of what you want it to look like and post it. I could help you figure out how to make a report return the info you want.

I agree, it is disappointing that we pay for a premium software and have to do so much work to get the performance we need, but on the other hand i am glad we we have a robust and impressionable reporting system for my customers. And we can get around most problems. and i don't have time to change systems, i have thought about contacting Orical or Sun systems - one those enterprise software companies, to build me a system, i know thats corporate money i don't have...yet
