Default Quickbooks Package Pricing

When building a lighting package for example we create each individual item in mmpd then enter said items into the package that we created and add it to a project, place the items in said package into the proper rooms. Simple enough

Now that being said when we push the Lighting package(and parts) over to quick links the individual items (with dollar values assigned to them obv) also come over, and I lose my ability to order the package as 1 line item sku.

What have other Dealers done to overcome this or set up their databases?

I know that I want to be able to show clients how much certain rooms in their home are going to cost(hence the reasoning behind adding pricing to the individual products that make up the package) otherwise the obvious solution would be to add the package price directly to the package and have the items with a zero cost, which also doesnt work if your client needs say 5 switches and the package only comes with 4.

Feedback would be very helpful

Andy

Hey Andy,

I'm no Quicklinks or QuickBooks guru, but I think the short answer is: you can't.

Where in QB can you even build such a package? I don't think QB supports it.

Let me ask another question though: Why should you WANT to do that?
My assumption from your post is that this package is made up of a bunch of parts/items/products that you purchase and each has a cost to you (i.e. you're not buying it as a package, just selling it that way). Don't you need to track all those items for *your* purposes? Don't you need all those parts on purchase orders from QB and to track receipt/backorder of them in QB and your cost/markup of each of these (as it relates to this project and on the whole)?

As I see it, the only place in QB that you'd want the 'package' single line item is on an Invoice to your client (and perhaps a Sales Order if you use them) so just make that invoice by hand using a 'dummy' QB item and price it.

Of course, I could have this all wrong but I hth anyway.

J.
