Are you syncing over VPN? If so, how many users do you have at each location?

Sorry about all the questions, but I am trying to understand your network configuration. So you have one user on a LAN that is connected 10/100 to the LanSync server and one user that is remotely connected via a DSL connection. Is this correct?

Are you refering to the D-Tools server with all the Manufacturer information and when you download it takes a long time to Sync? How many items is it Syncing? Are you on 10/100 or 10/100/1000 mb network?
If you are transfering a lot of info, it's going to take a while. I am on Gigabit, if I transfer 15,000 items, it will still take 10 - 15 mins. If your on 100 mbit, you would expect 1.5 hrs - 2.5 hrs to sync. I suggest only downloading one Manufacturer at a time, then sync and procede.
This helps?

Please respond to my question above. I don't understand the network configuration. It's not clear where the server lives and where the two users live in relation to the server and which one is downloading and attempting to LanSync.

To further help you, as CrystalHacker asked we will need to know more about your setup.
1) How do your PC's connect to your server?
2) Are you using a user PC as your server?
3) If you use VPN to connect to your server, what connection rate are you getting?
4) When you download manufacture data, how fast is that process?
5) Do you have any other computer / network speed problems?
6) Are you syncing multiple users at once? (halves the speed)
7) What server software are you using?
Crystal might have other questions. If you have a connection and everything is working, just very slowly, it sounds like a network / PC issue. If you were getting errors and not able to sync at all, you would have a setup problem. In your case, it's sounding like a network error. Answer the questions to further help solve the problem

If I were you, I would send this info to http://www.d-tools.com/support/submit-an-issue.html and let them give you some pointers. Make sure they know how to reach you.
In general you want the majority of your users and LanSync to sit on the local LAN. After you do a major download and Sync on the LAN, it may take less time to copy the MasterTable to the remote VPN location rather than running LanSync. In any case I would suggest contacting the support folks.
