Default Syncing Stencils, Templates, Reports

These used to sync in SI4 (stencils anyway.) Am I just missing something? Is there a way to have stencils, templates, reports sync in SI5?

This can be done in 5.5.

A LANSync Admin can publish updated stencils, blocks and other files to all users.
  • The LANSync Admin can place files like stencils, blocks, reports or any other documents in the DToolsProductShare folder in server. Your server has a product shared folder - which is normally \\servername\DToolsV5ProductShare.
  • Stencils should be placed in productshare\Visualizations\Stencils
  • Blocks should be placed in productsshare\Visualizations\Blocks
  • Visio Templates should be placed in productsshare\Visualizations\Templates
  • When a user sync(s) code will look for any new and updated files in the DToolsProductShare folder and its sub folders. New and Updates files are basically files in the shared folder which are not present in local or there is a newer version on server. User will be prompted to download such files.
  • The user can select any or all of these files to download by clicking the Copy button in the download files prompt.
  • Once user clicks Copy, the selected files will be downloaded to the local machine C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5 folder.

There is no automatic way to publish reports. Users will have to export the report and send to other users. Other user have to import the report.

I really wish this was not the case. it would be nice to have a way for the admin to auto-update reports on client machines similiar to that in business manager. the work flow for updating reports and making sure all of my users are on the same reports is really clunky. is there any movement towards improving this?

I would agree that it would make life a lot better if the reports would sync as well.

Apparently reports are unique to each Windows user which is a little strange. I find all the custom reports on my computer inside my user profile instead of located under All Users like other files.
The report files plus the indexing file for the report engine need to be updated. I'm guessing a guy could write a script to copy a new version of these files to the proper locations on a regular basis. It would really be nice for D-tools to oblige us on this one though.
