I have noticed something, with the LanSync: It doesn't utilize my gigabit connection optimally. I just did a copy down to the server, and now I'm LanSync'ing and watching the network activity. It it using 0% to 0.09% of the available network.

In contrast, is I copied a large file (over 200MB) over the same network to another server, it it reached well beyond 20% of the network availability.

Yes, Windows 2000/XP has a built in bandwidth limiter (QoS), but that's defaulted at 20%, and I have it moved to 30%.

This just seems wrong. D-Tools LanSync is the only application I've seen this in.

Is this purposeful? Is there anythign I can do to improve the performance?

Thanks for this feedback. We are looking into this. Based on the current design, LanSync moves data record by record to and from the server. As a result there is db processing overhead associated with each record. There will be lots of small burst of data with delay between each. I will be conducting some benchmarks to help understand the impact of the current design on data throughput. Please continue to share your results as well. This is a key focus for future releases.

BTW: How many Items did you sync and how long did it take? Are you using D-Tools data with graphics, or mostly text data?

I will try to keep track of this network speed. After thinking about it I did speculate that it is because it's not just data being tranfered, but it is also being compared to another copy.

As I said before, this is after I uploaded my local data to the LanSync server and then Sync'd. After I did that I remembered I was supposed to download it back from the server. I didn't do that, so I was sending all the data through the LanSync transfer.
