This morning I decided that my network places folder was getting a bit too crowded so I started by removing the sharing on my dtools projects and products folders as that seemed to be redundant. After all I already have the entire drive shared so why would I need these shared as well right?
Afterwards I tried to check in a couple of projects on my desktop machine only to get an error message stating "check-in failed. The network path was not found."
So I restored the sharing on those two folders but still have the same problem. I'm not sure that I have the share names set the same that they were before I removed sharing.

So my questions are 2:
1. Why do I have to share individual folders if the parent folder is already shared?
2. Is there a default name that project and product folders must have when shared?

Some answers...

1. You need to share the folders individually because they are accessed using a specific UNC path. The UNC path is formatted using the following format...\\Servername\Sharedfoldername.

2. The Share Name of the folders is specific and can be found on page 26 of the Installation and Administration Guide.
