Thumbs up Interesting....

Upon my last update the .NET 3.0 update did not install. I installed the latest update via windows update and the service now starts.

Food for thought

Has anyone actually tried to figure out what is causing the issue with the Service?

I got back in the office today after a week off and my dtools wouldn't connect to the server. Jogged my memory that when our server is either restarted or updated (don't know which it is) the Dtools Service does not automatically restart when the server does. Of course the dtools service is set to automatically restart. Instead of work-arounds and multiple reboots I would think it necessary to find and fix the problem? Its a lot harder for some of us in big companies to gain access to our servers and services.

Thanks.

I am having the same problem. Everytime I want to open D-Tools I have to open Services and start the SQL Server (DTOOLSV5) again. It is set to automatic but doesn't seem to start automatically anymore.

I also have a windows update for "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706)" that has not installed for a couple of months now and fails everytime it tries to update. Maybe it is related.

Maybe 5.5 will fix everything.
