So after too many "corrupt" files I decided to uninstall Visio 2010 and reinstall Visio 2007. All files that 2010 said were currupt and would not open - no issue with 2007. All files opened with no problem.

So for now, no more Visio 2010 for me ....

Dave, I don't suppose you happened to notice if wires were attaching to devices on wire reports with 2010, do you? For instance, I am seeing some issues where on wire checklists the report will show the room the wire goes to, but not the device it is attached to.

I was working on dealing with that issue when Visio 2010 crashed and then another "corrupt" file that was generated and this time would not allow me to open it. So then I decided to uninstall 2010 and install 2007 - file opened and the issues with wire checklists were gone.

The curse of being perennial upgraders . There used to be a setting in options in older versions of Visio, something like "snap to shape" that affected that. I suspected it was not on in 2010. I can no longer find that command but I turned on something called "enable auto-connect" which is the closest thing I can find to that but I'm not getting the warm fuzzy feeling that will fix it. I will know soon enough!

I would like to say that I learned my leson and would not use Beta software - but that is not true. However for now I am happy to be back with Visio 2007
