Default HELP - How to change from a LANSync Client to a Standalone

Our Server died basically which had D-Tools Server running. (SI5.5)

Now if we start a client it tries to obviously try and find the Server. Can we change to a standalone set up without re-installing the D-Tools Client software?

Our data back up is not tried and tested, as when it creates a the new back up it generates an error which to date D0Tools have been unable to resolve. so hopefully our data is in tact.

Urgent advise needed as need to prepare quote on Monday

J

Scrap the above... I've moved on... but still NEED help

I have now also wiped the Vista 32bit Client PC (as it was very confused). Trying to re-install SI5.5. Server element installs but fails just after the point it goes to Configure Server.

Client element installs fine but obviously no server to connect to.

Stepped back to original SI5 CD and of course, it states licence in use and won't progress any further.

Basicaly I need HELP and fast (have a quote due tomorrow)

I'm not sure if it works, but at this time I guess you are willing to try the most.

You can install the server on the same computer that you use for the client app. Then I guess you should be able to import the lost project into your new config. Since you were working with the project as the server died you should have a local project file (the most updated one) stored on your computer.

If you cannot install the server as Christian says another idea is to open the DTL directly since it is an emergency.
Go to your D-Tools projects folder (normally My Documents\D-Tools SI Projects) on the client machine and navigate to the Client\Project subfolder in Windows Explorer.
Check if the DTL is not read only - if it read only make sure to make it non read only and open it - double click to open the DTL in Text. This will open in Text and you can create any reports and make any changes.
If you have Visio or AutoCAD drawings make sure to make them not read only as well and open them and they will work as well.
After you complete your work take a backup of the project (zip dtl and all drawing files). When you check out project (when your server is back up) your local copy may get overwritten - in that case you can restore from the backup.
