SI5.2 with SQL 2005 Enterprise - D-Tools Forum

Hi all,

Just got my hands on SI5 and trying to install it to work with SQL 2005 Enterprise. I tried several times, and using the installation wizard, whenever trying to connect to SQL 2005 or 2000 db servers I could not get it to work. It just kept giving the error that it could not connect to the db server. I can get to both of the SQL servers I was working with via other applications no problem, and I saw no attempt in the logs that the SI5 installation tried to contact the SQL server. The install did, however, proceed just fine when I let it use SQL express. Is there something I'm missing here? I'd really like to be able to use a full-blown SQL server rather than SQL express so that I can do some db replication here. Any thoughts would be appreciated....

Did you create new instance to install DTOOLSV5? Also, are you pointing to the SQL using the server name or IP?

I actually tried to install it to the default instance. If I were to create a new instance, does it need to be a specific name? I tried using the server name as well as the IP and it didn't make any difference.
