Default "Copy Project Defaults" Help

When you "Copy Project Defaults" what exactly is sent to the server? Is it everything in the setup section or only certain sections in each of the 3 tabs(Application Setting, Application Project Settings and Formatting)? The user manual was pretty vague on this. We are trying to get the app setup but when we sync with another computer not all changes are done such as zones even though we did "Copy Project Defaults" on the computer with the updated info. Any ideas? Thanks.

Default Update

Think I figured it out. On the server added myself a Database Admin. On the client pc made the changes need then did the "Copy Project Defaults". Then on another PC did the lan sync on it. Then closed D-Tools completely(did not know this was needed). When I restarted D-Tools and went to setup the changes were there. The only thing I noticed was the client's section. I'm guessing on sync, clients are added but not removed. Am I on the right track?

We are also having the same questions: what information is pushed to the server when "synchronizing?"

We updated our company name from Name to Name, Inc. and the change did not update on the other computers (the updated logo did for some reason.).

Is there a way to sync the information from the server down to clients manually or automatically?

Shouldn't the "resolve conflicts" button look at the company name and current logo etc and list the discrepancies?

Thanks!

If you make any changes to your company info or anything under the setup tab. You will have to go into your MMPD, adminstration, Lansync and copy your Default project information from your local machine to the server. Then have everyone else copy down to their machine and they should have the same info.

Yeah, I thought of that. But when you go to the LANSYNC page, there is no button to click that has the meaning or says: "Copy or Synchronize Project Defaults From Server to Local Machine"

A wonderful solution would be to have a synchronization button as opposed to a copy button (feature request? you bet). If two client machines are making changes, at least one of them will be lost when the "copy to server" button is pressed...not what I would call robust or desirable.

Thx

Default Project Data Default Sync

I too have struggled with getting consistent data on all our client machines. I created a complete setup on one PC then hit 'Copy Project Defaults' . At the other workstations I hit 'Copy Down To Local' and even restarted the program as indicated above, but not all the data is transferred, specifically the Cost and Price info for the various project phases is not being updated. Can someone shed some light on this prodedure to ensure a reliable, repeatable process?

Thanks.

Default Copy project defaults explained

"Copy Project Defaults" copies all of the information from the Navigator Setup tabs, with the exception of these:

Company Information
Default Wire Length
Tax
Clients
Phases

This must be considered a bug and we'll look at correcting for the next update. It's possible we'll remove this feature entirely since Copy Up to Server is a more complete solution.

The way to distribute these properly for now is to use the Copy Up to Server feature, which includes everything. This will also overwrite the product database on the server, so be sure the local product database on this machine is the right one before proceeding.

Individual users must then manually use Copy Down to Local to get the updated information.

NOTE: Company Name and Default Wire Length do not get copied at this time. We will fix this bug in the next update.

Obviously this is a bit of a mess, so we'll work on cleaning this up as best we can. We apologize for the difficulties.
