We attended the dtools u training in Atlanta last week and I remember hearing about using the lansync shared folder for sharing certain d-tools files amongst different computers. What types of files can be stored in this folder and how is this done (just a copy and past into the root directory of the lansync shared folder??)?

Yep... New files in the LANSync share are copied to the Si4 folder. This is very handy for distributing custom reports, and other items that live at the top level of the Si4 directory. Do not put any database files in this folder.

Can the d-tools setup settings be posted to this folder also? If so, which file(s) are associated with this?

The Setup setting are not stored in a file that lives in the Si4 folder. They are stored in a database controlled via LANSync. Use LANSync admin to upload desired settings.

The best way to handle this is to setup a server on the network, doesnt have to be big or extravagant, install LanSync on it. Make your root directory here for storing your projects. If you install LanSync on the other machines and point the target directory back to the server, it should work pretty good for you. If you want to throw other client information in that location to centralize everything, yes you can. Would I do it? No. The D-Tools Projects Lookup screens are already terribly slow and I wouldn't do anything to hinder that performance.
