Default How Do I Change The Client A Proposal Is Connected To?

I'm the new IT guy for a Custom shop, and we use D-Tools for all of our proposals and projects and such... but we keep running into an issue where one of the lead designers makes a new client, adds in visio drawings of the house, etc etc, and then another designer opens up a WHOLE NEW CLIENT (same real world client, mind you) to make a proposal.

I now have 2 clients, one of which is created from a lead designer, and another which has a proposal attached to it, without all of the information from the lead designer.

Is there any way to move the proposal from 1 client to another? (Even though it's the same real world client, in D-Tools we have "Client Last Name, First Name" and "Client Last Name")

If not, is there at least a way to delete one of the extraneous clients so we don't have so many clients cluttering up the view?

Yikes! First go out and buy a cattle prod so as to ensure this does not continue to happen.
In the future have a process mapped out were the sales person starts the project file in TEXT.
The engineer can then open that same file in Visio later.

But for now...hmmm...lets try this.

First! Copy both files to a USB stick or burn to a disc, remove from the computer and place in a safe spot across the room.

next: Pick one file to be the new master. Save the Xtra file to the local drive of your machine. Open the new Master file and then do an insert system and insert the Xtra file into the master file.
Then clean up the redundant stuff.

Then archive the Xtra file if using the business manager or delete if not using the business manager.

Kind of ugly but this should do the trick. If not, you have copies of the original files and you may then need to a "do over file".

Shoot me an email if you want me to have a look online.

I mentioned the cattle prod to the lead designer, and his response was: "We've tried the cattle prod, and all it does is make people lose control of their bowels."

Moving on. I'll see if he'll let me touch the files, or if he's just gonna deal with 2 for now. I leave it up to them, since he is the one who has to use it

PsiKoTicK...
My experience (particularly w/4.x), is to keep everyone out of d-tools except those who have training. In particular, the creation of new projects is very different than in previous versions...and once created you can't delete (nor can you edit a file name). As one who is very particular about version control in proposals, documents and programs this is a source of constant consternation. My solution has been to have sales fill out a proposal questionaires (I have 2 versions, if you're interested) and let me handle the actual proposal creation.
