Default Have two of the same items show up as seperate line items

Here is my scenario:

I want to put an Integra DTR20.2 receiver in my system core to drive the Master Bedroom system.

I want to put another Integra DTR20.2 receiver in my system core to drive the Sitting Room system.

In my old D-Tools (v3.6) I would enter two of the same receivers. I would then edit the DESCRIPTION of each item to say "for the Master Bedroom" and "for the Sitting Room".

When I generated my proposal it would show up as two disctinct line items with the appropriate descriptions.

In my new D-Tools (v5.5), it shows up as a single line item with a quantity of 2 and the description "for the Master Bedroom".

What gives? This is very inconvenient. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shine on this.

This is very odd to me as I have difficulty lumping quantities. Usually with any discrepencies with descriptions, pricing, skus, etc, they will separate as different line items. I understand your issue and can't really think of anything to fix the issue without modifying the data. (unless there is a reporting modification? Probably code.)

Try using different accessories or change the price by $0.01.

Thanks for the response. Could I change the COST by $0.01? That way the client would see the same sell price for identical items.

UPDATE:

Nope - Changing the cost didn't do anything. Neither did changing the sell price.

Sorry. I have the exact opposite problem when it comes to grouping in quantities. Sometimes for no reason my reports will list, same item & identical in SI in every aspect,
(3) MANU KEYPAD
(1) MANU KEYPAD

I have even had item do this due to caps/ case for manufacturers and descriptions.

The way products aggregate on SI5 projects varies from the SI4 methodology. This article explains the differences that you are seeing.

Hi JordanC. This is likely due to these product having a Rough-In Wire and Cable as an accessory with different wire lengths.

I know that this is the case on certain applications, which is fairly difficult to explain to customers. But on certain occassions, even same wire length will have this issue. I have even had a product in the matrix, Duplicated the line item, and run reports and they don't group.

I actually just added a bunch of items to a brand new project I just created. The manufacutrer is CME. I created it over a couple hours, and for some reason, about half of the items I added with CME went into the project as CME, and the other half as Cme. I "Refreshed" from the master table on both objects and the title case won't change.

What the F?
