Question Display Accessory Price in Proposal

Hello all,

I am setting up items in my database (Leon Speakers). Each speaker has a choice of three speaker brackets. I have set up the item, added all 3 brackets as accessories, and set them up as "prompted/not recommended" so each time I choose a speaker it prompts me to select the correct bracket. I have also unchecked "Hide accessory detail for the Leon Speaker..." So far so good. But when I go to print a report of this item it prints the speaker and then, indented, shows the bracket. I would prefer that it wasn't indented, but the main problem is that the report only lists the COMBINED price of the speaker/speaker bracket combo.

Is there a way that we can display on the reports the sell price of BOTH items? The way it is now the speaker price looks very high and that tends to put off some of our clients (especially in these times).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

AVAL - Solution...

Go to Reports > right click report you want to run (eg. Proposal/by location by zone?) > Edit Report Definition > Parameters Tab > check box for "show detail prices".

Every time you run that same report, it was remember those settings.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response.

That kind of worked, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It still shows the total price in the main section (with the accessories listed indented with their price next to them). This makes it look like the speaker is expensive AND that we are charging for these accessories. It doesn't really show the price of the speaker!

Ideally I would like one line item for the speaker (with JUST the speaker price displayed), and one line item for the bracket (with JUST the bracket price displayed).

I realize I could do this by setting up a "package", but I don't really want to create a package for every speaker/bracket combination in my database.

Any other suggestions?

I just checked this with DTools 3.6 (the system we just came from) and it allowed us to do this. It didn't "embed" the accessories with the parent item. If you told it not to hide the accessories, they came out like line items on the reports. How do we do this in 5.5?

Help, Please.

Thank You

Dan

Try the Line Item Detail Report.

Thanks Fryeguy, I appreciate the answer.

But the Line Item Detail Report shows all line items.

I need some accessories to show and some to be hidden. For example: Speakers with an accessory bracket should show two line items with individual pricing - the speaker, and the bracket. A wire pull called "Prewire/Trim Component Video" that includes wire, plates, and connectors should just show the item heading "Prewire/Trim Component Video" and the total price. This was extremely easy to do in DTools 3.6.

Any other suggestions? Am I missing something simple?

Line Item report is what you need like Frye said.

However, the items you dont want to show accessories for, you need to hide the accessories. Open up the parent item you don't want to show accessories for > Accessories tab > check box that says "hide accessory detail". This has to be done for everything you want hidden.

You should have that setup anyways, then you have full control of what accessories are shown, and which aren't. I have all my parent items showing accessories, with the exception of a few.

The report I use most often is Proposal_Location by Zone. With the parameters set to not show labor items, Summarize Packages (item), Summarize Accessories (item), Show Model Number (yes), Show Detail Prices (no), Show Item Prices (sometimes, depends on who I am giving a proposal to.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will try J@Vissy's suggestions. It looks like I may have to open report designer and modify the Line item detail report so it has the appropriate headings and configurations I already created for my "proposal body" document. I was kind of hoping not to have to create a new report.

Thanks again!

Sorry for the newbie questions, but.....

I noticed the Line Item Detail report is available by either "By Category By Location" or "By Location By Category". How do I make/modify it to be "By Zone By Location"?

Thanks in advance

Maybe someone has made the report and wouldnt mind sharing with you.... or you will have to make it yourself in report designer.
