Question Condense Packages Automatically

Hello again,

In SI v5.5 I quite often enter product on a proposal using the page that has the Product Explorer column on the left and the Project DataMatrix column on the right - basically the page that comes up when you open a project in SI text.

Whenever I enter a package (an item with accessories), it drops it onto the Project DataMatrix with the main item in white and all the associated items in grey. It puts the little "+" sign in the left hand column. I know that if I click on the "+" sign it will toggle between showing just the package title and showing all the detail.

What I want to know is how to "minimize" the packages so that they ALWAYS show just the package title (unless I manually click on the "+" sign to see the detail).

Is there an easy way to do this? I thought perhaps clicking the "+" sign in the upper left of the Project DataMatrix might work, but that just sorts the project by the items that have accessories.

If I can't set a default, is there a command that I could issue that would collapse all the packages at once? In DTools Si v3.6 the "Collapse All" command would work for this, but that doesn't appear to be so in SI v5.5.

Any help would be appreicated.

Thanks,

Dan

The "page" you describe is in fact D-Tools System Intergrator - Text Version but typically referred to as "Text".

In SI 5.5 SP1 choosing "Collapse All" does in fact cause all Packages to be shown collapsed. Are you running SP1 or SP2?

How can I tell if I'm using SP1 or SP2? I'm kind of new to this version (SIv5.5). When I clicked on "Help" it says: "D-Tools System Integrator - Text Version"

When I "collapse all" (and assuming I have grouping turned off) it doesn't collapse anything. If I group by location - then it collapses EVERYTHING and just gives me the room totals. Not what I want. I want just the "packages" collapsed.

Thanks for the response

I don't believe there is any functionality that will only collapse packages.
FYI, I typically run my data matrix grouped by Sub-System (Zone) by Location.

Thanks for the help.

I usually prefer to group my project datamatrix by location then zone. I wish there was a way to collapse the packages - it seems to me it shouldn't be that hard.

I FOUND IT!

Under "View" just click "Hide all accessories".

Too simple!

So you are saying that from within SI Text, click View -> Hide Accessories.

This hides accessories throughout the project but does not hide the top level items in a package as you suggested you want. Either way, good to learn a trick for different viewing options...
