Default SI4 - Add or reduce total project pricing

Does anyone know how to add a percentage (say 10%) to a total project or deduct 10% for a discount? Some builders would like to add in a percentage for them, but, I am not sure how to do it? Thanks for any help.

There are several ways to do this.

The easiest way is to go to >D-Tools >Options Select the General Tab and use the Equipment +/- field to enter a negative percentage like -.10 for a 10% discount.

This is difficult to control in the client reports though, and the discount will then hit any items you add to the project through change orders.

DO NOT USE Misc Cost section as it does not go through to gross profit reports!

If you work with builders who take your money often, consider the following:

1. Add a new item to your Zone List in D-Tools >Setup called 'Rebates'

2. Add a 'Fixed Cost Type' Labor Item to your database called 'Builder Extorsion' (well maybe choose another word for extorsion) tied to the finish phase with 0 cost and 0 sell price.

When you create a project for the builder (Carmella Soprano?) include in your project framework the Zone (or system or discipline or whatever you have renamed 'zone') 'Rebate'

After you create the entire project, determine the amount of kickback needed to keep getting yourself a pair of concrete shoes.

Select the labor line item from the database and assign it to the 'Rebate' zone and any location you choose.

You will be prompted to correct the 0 cost and can enter the payola amount you plan to give the builder in the cost field, leave the sell field at 0. This increases the COST of the job, but not the SELL Price.

When you run the client reports, filter the report to not include the 'rebate' zone.

This will ensure the line item will not show up in the client report (hide labor SKUs will do this too)

Now you have a cost in the project for the builder (which is what this is anyway) that shows up in your cost reports so your back office can see what to do. The cost is tied to the finish phase, so you only give the builder the kickback if you finish the project (not just complete the rough-in due to client overruns due to other trade extorsion)

Discounts to builders are a cost of doing business - offer them a rebate, it gives them incentive to sell you to their customer. Margin your project as needed to remain profitable while including this rebate as a cost.

An overall project discount will work for this as well.
