Exclamation Comments for Microsoft??? Tell Me

All,
Tomorrow (Friday Feb 2nd, 2007) I will be speaking with Microsoft about the importation of dwg files into autocad. I have several issues to discuss with them, but please suggest any ideas before noon EST and I will bring it up to them.

So you know I will be talking with the project lead for the Visio design team. Wish me luck..

Can you elaborate? Why would you be talking to Microsoft about importing DWG files into AutoCad? Do you mean Visio?

Simplify the CAD if you can in another CAD software. I have found some funky things when importing a DWG with 50 layers and size issues.

Also ask about the "Conversion" from a DWG import to a Visio drawing, I have yet to pull this one off.

Out of curiosity...what was the outcome of your meeting with Microsoft? Did they give you any tips or insight that may be useful to the rest of us? I anxiosly await your reply....

The meeting went well and they were very interested to hear my feedback on the product, but mostly dwg importing and exporting. Here is a very brief summary of the items brought to their attention.

Importing:
Ability to turn off externally reference images
Ability to click an object and tell what layer it is on
Ability to crop a DWG (I can never get this to work)
Bulk layer color (IE:turn all layers black)

Exporting:
Make it work right. Including images, as example a nice looking rack elevation does not export well.

We also discussed adding the ability to tie SQL queries to objects.
