Default Quality of data

Am I the only one that has found the quality of data is very poor?

Default New data vs Old data

We are striving to produce quality data and that means complete and accurate data. Unfortunately there is a lot of data that still exists that is either incorrect or incomplete. While we try to increase the quality we don't want to "remove" the older items. It is our belief that until we can go through and clean everything up and get it updated, an item that is 75% complete is better than not having it at all. I am not making exceptions or excuses, but want everyone to know that the quality should be much better now. We have taken several huge steps in this regard including the addition of extended data and our new Quality Assurance team. Please send me a Private Message if anyone has any comments, questions or suggestions.

Within D-Tools there is an easy method for reporting data inaccuracies. In fact it's right within each product page and is called the "feedback" button. This generates a ticket to the Data team for you to report what you notice is wrong or missing. The cool part is that you can win an iPod for submitting more changes in a given month than anyone else, that's how serious they are about getting it right!

Thanks for making that point. Michael is correct... we look to our users to help with our data since we are not designing and installing these products everyday. We create these items typically by using the web and PDF documents and obviously the human factor comes into it some too.

Thanks for chiming in Michael "I already won an iPod" Hall!!!!

What is the use of a feedback button when all items that I downloaded are incorrect? Would it not be more convenient to have a feedback button for correct items, this sure would cut down on mouse clicks.

If you find that a lot of items for a certain manufacturer are incorrect I would ask that you send me an email (data@d-tools.com) and let me know the manufacturer and what you see is wrong. Unfortunately I don't know what items are right and wrong other than most things as of late should be correct since they have been going through a QA process prior to publishing. The feedback button is there so if you find that dimensions or IOs are incorrect you can let us know so we can make the change for everyone who downloads that item or updates their data will get the correct information. This is why we have offered iPods for people who help us "police" our data.

I detect some frustration in led's posts. SmartASS
