I've been running Project as a pilot to see what it can do for us. We were using Project Professional with Project server and Web Access. This allowed for the guys in the field to update the project plan with their progress every afternoon so I could get an overview of the project progress whenever I needed. In MS Project you can also link projects, so I created a "master project" where I inserted all project files for the different projects. It doesn't matter if you edit the project file of its own or through this "master", it gets equally updated anyway. If you are a supplier for the building constructor, they can include your project files into theirs. If they need to edit your start or finish date, your project file gets updated automatially if they get the rights to do it.
When you have made a schematic in D-tools, you can export that as an Project file.
I could wish for a two-way communication between Project and D-tools to track actual working hours for reporting and invoicing.
You can buy MS Project for Dummies as PDF. Great book, gave me a flying start.
