Default Server Project Directories

Why are the directories encrypted?

Jordan,

The server project directories are not encrypted.
We store each project in a "Guid" folder. On the server we do not follow the Client Name\Project Name structure as the idea here is this will be managed by the server program completely. Users will not need to navigate to this folder.
You can do a Windows Search for a file name and you should find the correct project folder.

This is what I have been doing. And thank you for the straight answer and makes sense. I was curious.

But that brings me to another issue. More of a suggestion and concern.

The whole opperation of have projects stored on the server. Having a database on the server. Then having to sync your database and having local project files. I get the operation. I understand why this is done this way. I know that whenever these types of operations are done on any network, they are prone to error. Especially when there are multiple users simultaneously operating.

When is D-Tools going to accept where every other technology is going and either have a cloud server, or have a more efficient server based operation. I am assuming if it went this way, you would have %50 less service issues. This is the way technology is evolving, is D-Tools going to evolve with, or get left behind? (What if I wanted to use my Chrome notebook, or my iPad to run my SI operations?...incapable)
