Add notes
Dear all,
is there a "place" in a component to add an additional note in PDM? Often is useful, especially for the guys that are going to install the dievices, to give additional notes about that equipment. I usually change the client description, but if I refresh from Master table, the description is reversed back to the master one.

we use one of our custom properties for this purpose. We've renamed CustomProperty1 to "Install Notes". BUT its not going to help you with the refresh problem. In my opinion, a major downside of Refresh from Master is that its all or nothing.
so...my reply doesn't really help unless i turn it into to (drum roll) FEATURE REQUEST!!!
allow users to refresh/update different portions of the product data from/to the master table.
i realize their is some UI challenge about this, maybe a checkbox for each product tab in the refresh/update confirmation dialog?

Most of the time for our projects we have any install notes located on either the plan drawing page or the elevation drawing page. However if you are not using drawings fora particular project we have a part with the model number of "Install Notes" and will include any necessary notes in this field. You just need to make sure that whatever report that you give to the technician includes the description field (we would normally include a proposal without pricing along with the install reports)

That is a very neat workaround!

Thank You Dave. I think this could be a nice workaround.
But, what I'm really searching for, is a way to insert a "comment" after an item to give more description for the customer inside the proposal.
For example: after a dimming device, insert specifically what it will do for the customer (example "this will dim the Harem room").
The solution from Dave I think is not "under control": I mean, I cannot say "this Comment" must stay after this item in the proposal. Or Am I wrong?

Gabriele -
Once you have created the "Install Notes" part, just make that an accessory item to any product that you want to have notes. Therefore your reports will have the "notes" listed after the appropriate product. Make sense?

Also, you should start working with the accessory function as it will make creating projects much easier and faster.
