Default Discounts

I need to create a Discount item at the bottom of the report, so I can show a customer how much the discount is.

for example a 10% discount on the total of the products.

I tried using the "Update Price" feature, but my markups are not the same for every product, and its not going to show on the report even if I find the right %

Default Try this way-

Hi,

Can you look at this custom report
http://downloads.d-tools.com/si5/rep...maryreport.zip
posted in the thread
submisccosts Extra line item on Summary page

In the attached custom (line item summary) report 10% of optional warranty is calculated based on the project items sub total. You have to do similarly in your custom (proposal) report.

Note: Attached report is just to give you an idea of how to create a discount item in the Custom Proposal report and its not the solution to your problem.

Hope it helps.

If you need more than this please let us know.

You can work within the strucuture of the database without a custom report to have full control over the dsicounint mehtod and reporting.

See this thread and look for our post where its all laid out.

I agree with Kevin that whenever possible you should try to keep discount calculations within the project. The discounting methodology in D-Tools is not perfect at this point, however the benefits of keeping everything inside the project for reporting purposes and analysis are valid. It can be confusing when the customized report gives different figures than all other standard reports in D-Tools.

another easy option is to create a Zone called Discount with items called Equipment Discount. These can be by phase in case you plan on discounting across phases. Then item value will be a negative number equal to the percent of discount you want to apply. Be sure to make it taxable. This will show up in both a Zone summary report and on line item reports.

actually, discounting is how you discard trunk slammers. when you get dealer pricing vs. distributor pricing and then add on buying group programs you can easily discount a trunk slammer right out of business...
