I don't know all the aspects in this thread, but I'll throw in my pennies. Whenever I am copying/pasting objects in Visio for either coping to another page, showing a different view, or simply utilizing the shape for multiple uses on a single sheet (basically any time I want to copy a shape, but not add to SI). I just group the shape with any other object, copy + paste. It loses it's connection or need to be connected to D-Tools. You can even ungroup the object and still have functionality.

I wanna give this thread another bump, I don't quite understand what is happening here. I am having the same issue as some where, option checked or not, it is prompting me to add "several" products when I copy and paste. This seems like this check box doesn't really do anything or simply chooses whatever it likes. Here are the steps I am taking, maybe someone can clue me in to either what I am doing wrong or maybe illuminate a bug.

1.) Built a schematic drawing that out grew the page width-wise so layering was not an option. decided it would be best to split the schematic into (2) partials;

2.) created new schematic page;

3.) Selected a handful of wires and equipment, the right-clicked on them "Copy"

4.) navigated to newly created schematic page, right-click paste.

What happened:
D-Tools asked me to add several products, but not all the products. Didn't seem to have an issue with wire and cable, only equipment. This may be a simple reconstruction at this point but had I wanted to do that with a large group of products and I don't think it would have saved me any time at all.

Attached are screen caps of the before and after. Is this what others are experiencing? Am I wrong, this is the type of functionality we are asking for right?
