LANSync basically classifies tables in two ways - "Regular" tables and "Setup" tables.
"Regular" tables sync two way - i..e any user with LANSync permission can change them and they will sync to all other users.
"Setup" tables (also called Project Defaults) can be changed and uploaded by a LANSync Admin only. Once the LANSync Admin uploads this data it is copied to all other users on next sync.
These tables are the Setup Tables (also called Project Defaults): -

To answer your question: -
Project defaults ae copied to server when a LANSync Admin either does a: -
1. "Copy Up To Server" (this copies full local database to server)
2. or "Copy Project Defaults" (this copies all "Setup" or "Project Default" tables to server)
Once project defaults are uploaded to server they will be copied to all users when they sync.
Let us take an example -
1. LanSync Admin changes a Location List or Zone List
2. LanSync uses MMPD and does a "Copy Project Defaults" - this will copy all location and zone lists to server database
3. Other users sync and get the latest location and zone lists
For custom stencils LANSync Admin has to copy them to the \\Products Shared Folder\Visualizations\Stencils folder (In Products shared folder on server copy them to a Visualizations\Stencils folder). Users on next sync will see this custom stencil to download to local machine.
