Default Assigning Permission in 5.5

I cant figure out where to assign my permissions. I checked the server administration and there is nothing there. Did I overlook it or is it in SI 5.5. The info below talks about it, but does not say where it is. Can someone help a monkey out!

8. Assign new permissions
SI5.5 has new permissions that you’ll want to check out. For example, all of your Text users have now been upgraded to Pro! Which means they can create and edit drawing files, unless you want to restrict them by removing this permission. Quicklinks is also controlled by permission and not by license. And, lastly, there are new scheduling permissions (Add/Edit Task, Add/Edit Service Order, Assign Resources, Manage Schedule) that you may wish to set up.

Any plans on implementing the "restrict price" option in a future release?

If you're talking about the ability to restrict users from changing price on items in a project, yes. It is fairly high up on the priority list and will be addressed when we're working on either the PDM or permissions.

is there currently any ability to limit a user to only being able to download the latest database and not be able to sync upstream?
this is really important!!!

Hi,

One way you can do this
1. For this users group remove the "Add/Edit Data" and "Delete Data" permissions
2. Make sure the user group has the "LANSync Data Sync" permission

With #1 user will NOT BE able to ADD/EDIT/DELETE data in the MasterTable database and therefore nothing will sync up.
With #2 user will be able to sync and any new changes on server will sync down.

Hope this helps.

Naresh

Thanks Naresh!

That works well. It lets me unleash my new Service Manager into d-Tools with no fear of data headaches. He can download the database, create and work on projects, manipulate local project data, and run reports. But no data goes upstream!
