I just tested some of these issues against the latest code and the packages are acting as expected now except when you do a find and replace. The replace happens outside the package. There is a bug logged and it will be fixed in the next revision.

Thank you for responding Adam.

Can you comment on the missing feature that we had in SI 4, where you had the ability to make a package of say, "System Package - MultiMedia Surround Reciever and Sources" and in it you included 3-4 different recievers, 3 different dvd players, CATV box, SAT box, etc. Basically, you make 1 package you can add to a project, but modify it very quickly before it populates the project. This way, you don't have to have 3-4 different "surround sound reciever with sources" packages. There was a "Include?" checkbox that allowed you to quickly uncheck any piece of equipment that you wanted added to the project inside of the package.

Also, my earlier question about my 7.1 speaker package that I discussed still isn't working like it did in SI4. There is no way to quickly add, for example, a second subwoofer to the package after you select the package and before you populate the project with it. In SI5, there is a quantity column, but you can't edit or modify the quantity of a particular item within the package.

Indeed. Look for many package fixes in Service Pack 3 (SP3). Before anyone asks, I don't know when SP3 will be released. I can tell you though, that as a policy now, all Service Packs and Revisions of to SI 5 will be released on Mondays only. That way if anyone has issues, they have a full week to get ahold of tech support.

Seth, does that include the fix for the "Quantity when adding a package to a project" problem?

And I know you said you don't know when, but can you give a ballpark (days, weeks, months away) ?

Thanks.

J.

BUMP!

Ok, so now SP3 came and went. I still don't see the fix for the package qty's. Or did I miss something somewhere?

Thanks Kevin. I see that it only works if you do an "add" | "package" as opposed to dragging a package in to the PDM from the tree. This type of inconsistency is a bit of a pet peave. Anyway, I found it and I'm glad to have it back. Thank you DT.

#2. My understanding is that SP3 = v5.1. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I am glad you discovered that!

Dirty little secret # 27...Drag and drop is the long road to success in D-Tools.

I recommend using the ADD button for product and packages always, you have the most control to get the most output and the consistency in report proposal appearance.
