Default Loss of D-tools tab in Visio

After losing my D-tools tab many times in multiple projects I have noticed that it is directly connected to the size of my drawings or the amount of pages in my drawing. Also, the tech guys mentioned that PDF files can also bog down the D-tools Add-in. Is this a bug that could be addressed so that our project drawings can stay just in one file instead of breaking it up into muitiple Visio drawings?

Default Lost D-Tools tab in Visio

I too have the same problem. No DT Tab. Mine is a new install - actually I've installed/removed/installed... several times clearing all folders related to D-Tools and even cleaning up the registery.

I have a preveously installed version of Visio Pro loaded and working perfectly. Installing D-Tools from the SI5 issue disc then allowing it it upgrade automatically to v5.2, I still have the same situation.

Also, the project opens in Visio BUT there is no page layout showing along with the 'Background' page/title blocks. I do have the page tabs along the bottom, but each one blank and as you noted... NO stecils???!

Another post talks about an issue with pdf files/sizes. Ummm... this is a brand new install, there's really no project files here to bog down the D-Tools add-in ability into Visio.

I'm still at a loss also...!

For the D-tools tab, here's what I do. Open a project in Visio that you know the tab is there (and working) and then open the project that is mssing the tab. Often times, this 'fools' d-tools to acknowledge there is a tab.

As for the PDF issue...
PDF's are the worst files to use as the floorplan. If at all possible, you need to get the CAD file from the architect. PDF's take up a lot of space and when moving around in the project, Visio will lag as it is regenerating the PDF (regardless of it being a new install or not). Even when you crop down the PDF image to what you need, the part you 'cut' is still there. Also with PDF's, sometimes when you zoom in, the picture will disappear and be replaced with a giant 'X'. This makes moving around a lot easier, but you cannot see the floorplan, just the shapes. You may already know what I am refering to.

Not sure what you are refering to as "tabs' but I can not view the "D-Tools" menu in my Visio 2007 Standard (came with 5.1) or 2007 Pro that was upgraded. There is no "trust center" listing of D-Tools or any COM objects included. I know it was there previously, but now it's gone. Does anyone know the path to manually add in the "COM" objects into Visio?
Tools>Trust Center
There should be an entry from D-Tools in the Add In's page. IF you see it can you post your location path? I don't see it other then the PDF stuff and the Send to bluetooth com-add in.

Hmmm. There's Tools > Trust Center.

Then go to the Add-ins "tab" in the left column.

On this page, you'll see Manage: Com Add-ins at the bottom, and you can click "Go..." There should be a D-tools item in the dialog that appears.

Is that convoluted enough? Yeesh!

I too have lost the D-Tools templates for Visio 2007.

I also do not see the D-Tools Add-On using Tools > Trust Centre > Manage > Go....... Nada!

Any ideas Visio Guy?

Interesting>>>>we have si5.2 and have loaded and reloaded one license of Pro and one of text with LAN sync, it all workd great but our PRO version cannot create a visio diagram?? The visio that comes up looks like standard Visio?? Nothing like the tutorials show with the stencils of amps, wires, preamps, security stuff>>>>nothin. I do not know what to do. We got some huge projects ahead of us that gotta be documented before we even start punching things down!! Do we reload visio???
