For the D-tools tab, here's what I do. Open a project in Visio that you know the tab is there (and working) and then open the project that is mssing the tab. Often times, this 'fools' d-tools to acknowledge there is a tab.

Another post talks about an issue with pdf files/sizes. Ummm... this is a brand new install, there's really no project files here to bog down the D-Tools add-in ability into Visio.

As for the PDF issue...
PDF's are the worst files to use as the floorplan. If at all possible, you need to get the CAD file from the architect. PDF's take up a lot of space and when moving around in the project, Visio will lag as it is regenerating the PDF (regardless of it being a new install or not). Even when you crop down the PDF image to what you need, the part you 'cut' is still there. Also with PDF's, sometimes when you zoom in, the picture will disappear and be replaced with a giant 'X'. This makes moving around a lot easier, but you cannot see the floorplan, just the shapes. You may already know what I am refering to.
