Packages are assemblies of the individual items in them.
Packages can have an image, and that image shows up in the proposal reports that use images.
We promote the methodology of adding packages to projects through the 'Add Package' function and not through the drag and drop method.
Once you have added packages to the project, then you drag the items in the package you want to show on you drawings from the project data matrix.
This may sound slower but it is actually faster and requires less database setup and maintenance than drag and drop.
When you drag and drop packages from the product explorer:
1. You cannot assign a zone or room to the package
2. You cannot adjust quantity of items in a package
3. You cannot 'uninclude' items in a package
4. You cannot change the length of wire in the package
5. You cannot add multiple packages to multiple locations at one time
6. You have to delete all of the shapes you get woth each item in the package, unless you specifically set the visualizations in each package to 'hide' selected items (uneccesary database maintanence and setup)
When you Add a Package to a project, you CAN DO items 1-5 listed above, and for item 6, you drag and drop the items in the package that you want to show on your drawing from the Project Data Matrix.
To continue dragging and dropping, you will want to open each package and look at the items you do not want to have appear on the drawing when you drag and drop and set the visualization for each item per page to hide or not. You will then get the action I belive you are looking for in your description.
