Angry Visio visualizations not updating.

I have noticed the following problem:

Select an object from the Visio Plan drawing.
Select 'Find in Project DataMatrix'
Edit the item.
Change the viisualization in the plan to something else.
Save the change in Master Table.
The graphic doesn't update in the drawing EVER.

The expected behavior would be for the graphic to update. Has anyone experienced this before?
Is there a workaround? I really want to avoid updating a large number of display items just because I change from one product to another.

You need to delete the shape and drop again from PDM - it will then take the updated visualization you have defined for this product. The impact of changing the visual is for the next drop to Plan view for this product.

Or a better method - select shape and right click D-Tools | Shape | Change Shape. Select the shape you want and check the "Save as default visualization for this view". This will change the shape and also use this visual for all future drops to plan view.

I've been able to do the workaround, but it seems common that one would want to change a product type. For example, if I choose a wall plate visualization and then change the product and visualization for the entire project, it's a lot of work to update the new graphics. I just had an expectation that a program like this would handle some of the time consuming tasks for me. This and the awkward UI for the SI-Text window has made setting up a large project very time consuming.
