Default Autodesk Revit MEP

Is SI 5.5 SP2 compatible with Autodesk Revit MEP 2010/20011? We are looking into buying that as it is much more useful for us than a standard AutoCAD. Revit MEP is a customized/optimized version of AutoCAD for Mechanics, Electrical and Plumbing. Since AutoCAD is the main engine for Revit, it should work in theory, but you never know until investigated

SI 5.5 sp2 is compatible with AutoCAD® MEP and right now we do not support AutoCAD® Revit® MEP Suite and Autodesk® Revit® MEP.

Is it a big deal to make it compatible? Do you have any plans on looking into it?

Check to see if Revit MEP has the ability to run as a vanilla AutoCAD mode. Some of the vertical platforms allow this. If it does it should be able to load the D-Tools modules (technically). The problem is that the way Revit is identified on your computer is different than AutoCAD. If Revit truly is a vertical platform built on AutoCAD it should be a minor update for D-Tools.

Seems like this is worth trying:

I've checked with Autodesk. Revit MEP is not a vertical platform based on AutoCAD. BUT: AutoCAD Revit MEP is a part of the Autodesk Revit MEP Suite, so I get two programs for the price of...well... approx two

Some ground for confusion. AutoCAD Revit MEP and Autodesk Revit MEP. That is actually two different programs. AutoCAD Revit MEP is a vertical program running on AutoCAD. Autodesk Revit MEP is made with similar functionallity but differs a lot in the programs architecture from AutoCAD. Or so they said

so are you sayin that you have the Revit MEP Suite and therefore you have both Revit MEP and AutoCAD Revit MEP? If so, have you loaded the AutoCAD Revit MEP to see if you can get a vanilla AutoCAD profile running?

SI 5.5 runs witch AutoCAD Revit MEP. That I know. As the add-ons we use for 3D drawings are made for AutoDesk Revit there is some extra work to be done before the same drawing can be opened in AutoCAD Revit MEP. I haven't had the time to try out too much around this. Most likely I can automate much of those processes with a macro in autodesk Revit.
