Default Modifying Work Orders?

Is there any way to modify a work order to add more information like we can with the standard SI 5 project reports? I could not find the standard work order report in the reporting center, so I was worried that the work order is not modifiable.

Default Customizing Work Order Reports

At this time, sales and work order reports are not customizable. We understand this is an important feature to many users and have added it to our list to be included in a future release.

In the meantime, you can help us by giving us a detailed description of the fields and types of customizations you would like to have on these reports.
This will help us make sure we focus our energies in the right areas as we define this feature.

Thank you

It would be nice to have the notes expand to the amount of text when printed, ie. I like to bullet point the task notes

1. do this
2. do that
3. etc..

Right now it prohibits entering past 5 lines of text. I currently will generate an additional work order so the work notes are not lost.

I'd like to be able to add fields to the work order from the XML like we can for project reports. Specifically, the one feature we do need is the ability to determine the parent item (or package) for accessories on the work order. For example, it is not easy for an installer to determine which cable they are supposed to install for which particular jack in a location (the cable is set up as either an accessory to the jack or part of a package). There are other ways to get this information (referring to the proposal, etc.), but it would be easier if we were just to say this cable is an accessory to this jack in this location on the work order.

Isn't this accomplished by handing them a matching wire-checklist?

Display the contract number.
Display any custom field info.

I use job numbers in quickbooks which have no correlation to d-tools job numbers since not all of my clients get d-tools numbers, and some clients have multiple contracts

It could be accomplished this way as well as other ways. The only problem though is that it's another set of instructions and the tech has to cross reference everything. Why can't we keep it simple on one page (one work order)? Plus there may be other accessories (different mount types) for the different TVs in the same room location. The wire checklist won't work for that. Again, we get around this issue by setting up a new location for each TV. Solving the problem by adding the parent item to the work order would be easier I believe (just my opinion).

***bump***

Any news on this front?

Now creating a task and then creating a work order from that task, all info from task does not display in work order, so why create work orders? Or why tasks? If I want to stick to giving guys work orders, I have to print the work order, then print the task(s) pages. Or double enter every thing in the task then again in the work order.

Or I could edit the Task report and call it work order, since all the pertinent info from the task is there.
