Default Quickbooks transfer bug?

Hello all,

I am transferring from DTools SI5.5 to Quickbooks version 9.

When I get to the transfer page and I try to assign a DTools product to an existing item in QB I am having a problem.

When I select the dropdown menu to "link" the product to QB and type in the first letter of the manufacturer, it assigns the product to the first item it sees beginning with that letter! This is maddening! For instance, if I wish to link a Speakercraft item, and type in "S" it goes right to "Sanus" (in my system), and links the product to the first Sanus item it sees! It should go to "Sanus" and wait for me to continue scrolling down. It should also allow me to type "SPE" and have it go to Speakercraft.

This is how the interface worked on our old system (DTools 3.6 & QB version 5.0). That worked fine.

Other than that the transfer process work fine (althought it should show MUCH more than three products at a time. How about 20-30?

Does anyone have a clue on how to fix this? Am I missing something simple?

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Agreed. The UI on this form could use some improvement.

To map D-Tools Items to QuickBooks Items have you tried the "Item List" button the main QuickLinks form. Here you can select multiple items from the Product Grid and transfer them to QB at once. You can also map D-Tools Items to existing QB Items.
Please read Setup and Maintenance - D-Tools Documentation Wiki - especially the section on "Connecting SI5 Products and QuickBooks Items".

Also agreed, thats a small drop down for all of our 70,000 products.

Thanks Naresh,

But I typically don't realize a product is not "linked" until I go to transfer it (and it shows up blank). Hence, I can't really proactively link things.

The old interface (DT3.6 / QB5.0) worked as I suggested. Is there a way to enable a feature to not automatically select the first item it sees?

And in reference to ekalpakoff's comment: I wasn't really talking about how small the drop down menu is - if it operated the way it should (typing in the first few letters and then letting you scroll from there) it would be fine. I was talking about the fact that you can only see THREE products at a time for a transfer. If I am transferring a portion of a project with 15-20 items, I think I should be able to see those items (not just THREE).

Thanks for the reponses,

Dan
