Default change order with wire weirdness

  1. starting from new project (for the sake of an example), add two wire items to the project (something you can adjust the wire length on)
  2. set the length of each wire to 100'
  3. save and close project
  4. create revision of the project (we'll call it the "pre wire change" revision)
  5. reopen project and adjust the wire lengths (for this example increase one of them by 20' and reduce the other by 10' resulting in a 10' addition)
  6. save project and open Orders and Accounting > Revision Management
  7. Run a comparison between the "pre wire change" revision and the current project
  8. Run a change order report on the comparison

What i would expect to happen:
change order shows the wire model with a quantity of 10' and the price for 10'

what happens instead:
change order shows the wire model with quantity of the total length of all modified wires (210' in this example) with the price of 10'

Default other thoughts

maybe this is more of a factor of the way the report is written. another thing to consider is when ANY item is changed in the project and how it shows up in a diff/change order report.

for example: If i add an item and reduce the price of a similar item (maybe i'm giving a 2 for 1 discount on a CO), when i run the report it shows quantity 2 of that item and the price of the added item minus the discount on the existing item. this just leads to confusing reports. from a clients perspective i would read that as they are getting 2 additional items for less than the price of 1.

Maybe the reports should be written to divide between added, removed, and adjusted (or any other comparison states that an item in two revisions could have)

So perhaps the bug is in the CO report packaged with dTools and not in the Revision Management component itself?

In Sp3 revision reports show added, modified and deleted items seperately on rev reports. Check SP3 release notes for changes to revision reports - SI5.5 SP3 Release Notes - D-Tools Documentation Wiki
