Default Client & Project are not correct

At the top of my 5.5 there appears to be an icon with a triangle/pencil/ruler. then next to that it shows Client: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and then Project: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
First, I can not push the icon to edit this information. Perhaps it's not supposed to be edited form this window.
Seconly, The Client does not match the project.
I.E.
Client: John Doe
Project: Backyard Audio

yet, backyard audio is for a differnet client all together. Jane Doe, yet shows up under John Doe.

It always shows the same client, no matter what project I'm working on. How can I get it to show the correct client name & project. Also, if I disconnect from server, restart services, etc. it still shows that populated client in the screen.

Is this normal and if so - why?

The area at the top of the screen shows the selected project details - client name, project name etc for the selected project. The selected project can be changed on the projects group, orders and accounting (projects tree on the left) and scheduling (projects tree on left).
The selected project cannot be changed in Clients and Contacts.
This area of the screen is not editable as well.
