Are you on 5.5 SP1 (version 5.5378). I could not replicate this here. If possible can attach a screen shot of the error message.

The bug still exists in the latest version. As soon as I enter a duplicate componentID, the standard error dialog box comes up saying there is a duplicate componentID. Once I close that dialog, then it goes into some Vista data recovery process. It happens every time.

We tried to replicate this in all possible ways but could not.

Does this happen for any project or a specific project only?
Can you attach a screen shot of the error message before crash which also shows the relevant d-tools dialogs?
If this happens with a specific project only can you send that project and related drawing to support at d-tools dot com please and refer this forum post. Also let us know which product causes this problem in the project.
