Default Date / Time Format issues.

Keep running into this on customer's computers, so thouht i'd mention it on the forums.

This occurs when the server running lansync has one date format and the client SI has a different version.

IE
server has DD/MM/YYYY
client has MM/DD/YYYY

Hopefully in a future version d-tools will automatically use ONE date/time format and convert to that from whatever the localisation settings are - thus avoiding this issue.

Thats all good to show the error, BUT i can see the same thing on about 4 of our machines. Where do you change the date settings.

Even more interesting is why do i get that error from the Server when i try to launch SI5? Shouldnt the server have the same date setup as it is the same machine!

BigH,

Please try the following:
  1. Go to Start\Run and type “intl.cpl” (without quotes) to open the Regional Settings for your computer.
  2. Configure all Regional Options and Location settings, including any Date or Time customizations, to the correct settings for you geographic location. Then select ‘OK’ to accept your changes.
  3. Backup any custom reports and visualization folder just in case the install overwrites the files.
    Reports: C:\documents and settings\your windows user\application data\dtools\si5
  4. Visualizations: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\dtools\si5\visualizations
  5. Download this file to a local directory on the machine.
  6. http://downloads.d-tools.com/SI5/upd...Si5-Client.msi
  7. Run the Si5-Client.msi.
  8. Open the SI5 Navigator. The application will open the first time without prompting for the password.sss
  9. Close the SI5 Navigator. The license will now get released back to the server .
  10. Open the SI5 again. This time you will get prompted for the username and password as expected.
  11. Repeat these steps for each machine that has the desktop components installed.
If you are still experiencing difficulties, please call support @ 866.386.6571. Thank you!

Hi

Is this solution still applicable?
I'm getting error when running EXCEL reports because of regional setting.. When setting to US format, it works fine, but when I change to Norwegion, i get
"Old format or invalid type library. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))"
Changing back to US, and it runs OK!
