Unhappy Revisions not archiving...

In 5.1 we were forced to use ARCHIVE when we wanted to delete projects... in 5.2 we now can use ARCHIVE for what it's intended for - archiving projects but NOT deleting them (since we have that ability elsewhere).

I recently discovered, in horror, that all revisions of a project are just deleted when you go to ARCHIVE a project. I believe this to be a bug - especially now with 5.2 where we can delete projects if we do now want them.

The idea behind an archive feature is that if I need to look back at something I can restore it and review it. I expect ALL (!!!) aspects of the project to still be there!

I archived a project that was 6 months old (no new work) - but knew we'd be coming back eventually (100k deal that got cut into 25k now, 50k later and 25k even later). Customer called me and asked about one of the original bids, if we could do some of that work again. This is when I discovered that revisions were not being archived. I was fortunate that I found the revisions on a tape backup stored away... and was able to restore them. BUT - PLEASE - fix the archive feature - it should archive everything - no matter what!!! If we do not want it to archive all, we now have the option to delete stuff - but PLEASE do not make this decision for us!

Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn,

Did you archive the project before upgrading to 5.2?

There was a bug in 5.1 that revisions of archived projects did not get saved. Thus, if you archived in 5.1 and restored in 5.2, the revisions will be gone.

However, this bug is fixed in 5.2, so if you archive a project with revisions in 5.2, the revisions will be there when you restore the archive. We just tested this on several projects with success.

AWESOME!!!! It was archived in 5.1 and restored in 5.2... when talked with Scott in support, he thought it was still a bug and suggested I post here...

THANK YOU for reading my mind and fixing it already!
