Default Microsoft Office 2007 A Problem????

This is a general question: is there anyone else out there that has used an older version of Microsoft Office (2000, 2003) and operated with D-Tools SI5 flawlessly (except the known bugs) and upon upgrading to 2007, started to experience errors?

I'm wondering if I'm a unique case. I am in this boat. Prior to yesterday, I was running 2003 Professional and had no known issues. Everything ran smoothly (again, other than the known bugs). Then, I upgraded to 2007 yesterday, and now, I get all sorts of errors when editing the Project Information, adding or editing parts within my data matrix, and just whenever it feels like it. I can post these errors to this blog as I get them, but I didn't think of opening this blog until I got five different errors in a row when trying to save my Project Information after entering a Scope of Work.

SI5 has not crashed on me, nor caused a loss of data or work - I just keep getting these annoying errors and just keep saying "Ok".

Is it coincidence???? Something in Access 2007 that was not present in 2003????

Errors experienced to date:

Error 1 (logged 4/23/08 10:30am): - happened when I changed the "Phase" from a blank field to an acutal phase.

Error in Object: UpdateProductFrom PDM
Error in Description: Operation must use an updateable query
Error Number:-2147467259

Error 2 (logged 4/24/08 9:30am): - happened when I tried to open the "Project Information" setup dialog.

Error in Object: GetLocationTypes
Error Description: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
Error Number:-2147217911

Error 3 (logged 4/24/08 9:30am): - I got Error 2 above and then this error popped up as soon as I hit "Ok" to Error 2.

Error in Object: Get LocationCollection
Error Description: Object variable or With block variable not set
Error Numer:91

Error 4 (logged 4/24/08 9:30am): - I got Error 2, then Error 3 above and then this error popped up as soon as I hit "Ok" to Error 3.

Error in Object: RefreshData
Error Description: Object variable or With block variable not set
Error Number:91

When I hit "Ok" to this error, the cycle started over again with went through Errors 2, 3, and 4 for a second time.

Error 5 (logged 4/24/08 4:25pm): - I got this error when trying to save a project.

Error in Object: SaveSI5Project
Error Description: Operation must use an updateable query.
Error Number:-2147467259

I started with Office 2007 SMB. Can you elaborate on the errors, I'm not exactly sure what they are. Perhaps wait for SI5.2 update... should be ready for download any day now.

I am posting errors to date (and adding new ones as they crop up) in my original thread at the top... see them there.

I have a further development... I had a brand new PC, running Office 2003 and used SI5 flawlessly for a few days.

I then upgraded to 2007, and low and behold, I start getting errors, just as on the PC I use every day.

I really think there is an incompatibility (at least under certain installations and configurations) that Office 2007 does not allow D-Tools to operate smoothly.

P.S. - I upgraded both to SI5.2 today, and that didn't help. I still get all sorts of weird erros, and they all seem to point to an Access incompatibility issue - they all seem to deal with the database (and I know Access is the "local" program running in the back ground, as when you open a .dtl file, it creates a temporary Access files!). See my post at the beginning - I have copying errors there for reference.

Unhappy

did u try tech support???

if all fails, I would back up the data base and jobs, uninstall SI and visio and reinstall all at once, Visio 2007 1st, then SI5 with updates

Visio 07 isn't the issue - It's Office 07 as a whole. Microsoft Access is the underlying foundation of all SI does. If you look at all the errors above, they all deal with the database, which is Access.

This is over tech support... this is programming!

I dont have Access installed. Tech support canbe very helpful... they deal with a lot of customers who I'm sure have had a very similar setup to you.
