Default D-Tools System Integrator has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Once again D-Tools has crashed. This time I cannot restart it. All I get is the message:

"D-Tools System Integrator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have logged in and out and I have restarted the machine. I can see that the LanSync server is working and SQL service is running.

Any ideas?

Still no joy. I have been in touch with support and they told me to uninstall and reinstall .net 2 and 3 but this has not helped.

We were having the same issues on multiple machines.

I uninstalled .net 2 and 3 through Windows Add / Remove programs (all service packs, updates, the works) then reinstalled from the D-Tools five disk (just the prerequisites and only what the installer suggests.)

Don't let Windows update these after you have done this!!! You'll be back to square one again.

Sooner or later maybe D-Tools will get this figured out. It's been dragging on for months now.

I hope that helps.

It may have nothing to do with .net 2 or 3. You may have a simple problem that can be fixed in 30 seconds.

When you get the error and it prompts you to send it to D-Tools, there normally is another option to view the actual contents of the error.

Next time, click this and see if talks about a buffer under (or maybe over) run. I got the same error ("D-Tools System Integrator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience") on startup and when I checked the physical error, it mented a buffer size of 69 thousand something... (can't remember off the top of my head, but it was too small).

If this is so, call D-Tools tech support with this EXACT information (what you read in the error)... they will help guide you through the process to increase this number to 1,000,000 and this problem (if it's caused by the buffer) will go away.

If it's not a buffer issue, sorry, I tried :-)

Thanks. I asked support and they contacted me. Dax then went and had a look at my system before removing everything and starting from scratch.

It is now working again but I have turned automatic updates off as Microsoft can't be trusted not to break my system when they bring out updates.

Yes Windows updates can be an issue. I only update when I have a few days of non-critical work.
