Default visio is losing the d-tools menu & data matrix

On certain projects, I lose the d-tools menu icon in the toolbar. I had problems with acrobat 8 installing add-ins in d-tools that caused this. I have un-installed acrobat and now when I open these projects the data matrix comes up but still no d-tools menu button. Please Help. It's hard for me to believe that un-installeing and re-installing visio and d-tools is the only answer to this problem. That is what tech support has told me to do several times..... I refuse to follow that procedure. if I uninstall d-tools again, it's not getting installed again. period.

Dustin,

Are these projects that you are having problems with imported from an older version, i.e. SI4? Is Visio and D-Tools installed on the C:\ drive? I'm assuming you have also allowed Active Controls? Let me know. Thanks!

I just now started having this same issue. Nothing is new on my computer. Projects that have worked fine in 5 for a month are now doing this exact same thing. No changes since using the system on Friday when everything was fine.

Did you ever get it fixed Dustin?

Thanks.

Why doesn’t any one answer this thread on the forum, If the answer and treatment was here for this I wouldn't be pulling my hair out on 2am on a Sunday before a proposal is due!!

I'm having the same problem, "d-tools" menu is missing on all projects opened for Visio with SI5, and I see the "D-Tools" menu in Visio is fine in SI4, Do I need to remove something in SI4 to make SI5 work?

I have built my project in SI5 and not sure if I can just import to SI4 to run my Visio or what!! AARRGGG

Anyone please let me know. Tomorrow is President Day and D-Tools is probably closed!
This is what I get.

I spoke with our Support department and they recommended trying this:
1. Open Add/Remove programs, select System Integrator 5 (5.1) and click [Change]2. Choose to [Modify].
3. Click Visio Add-On and select "Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive" and then finish clicking through the install wizard.

If this does not work, or you don't see the Visio Add-On option when attempt the Modify, then you will need to:
1. Uninstall the SI 5 desktop components via the SI 5 Install Utility (Start->All Programs->D-Tools->Insatll Utility.
2. Reinstall SI 5 from disc, make sure that you choose the Complete option when installing.
3. Run your update to 5.1.

You cannot take a project that was created in SI 5 and bring it back to SI 4. If you need assistance, please call D-Tools Support at 1.866.386.6571 x 2 or email http://www.d-tools.com/support/submit-an-issue.html. We are open on President's Day.

Cool of you to help, My add/remove, dose not contain that d-tools system intergrator 5, so I'm off to the shop to find my copy of SI5, can support e-mail this to me with my key, or is the disc the only way? I may be so screwed!

Thanks for help

Currently we do not have a download for the installation of SI 5 so it must be from disc. Support can email you your CD-Key but you most likely will not need it. When you uninstall SI 5, not everything gets deleted (Projects, databases, etc.) and your CD Key should auto-populate.

I have this same problem. It was a project that I started in SI4 and imported it into 5. I have tried both of the fixes listed above and and have had no success. Tech supoort told me that They are aware of the problem but that there is no fix at this time. Unbelievable.

I have been a loyal D-Tools user since version 1.5 and have always been a supporter and fan despite the quirks and bumbs along the way. But I have gotta' say that this release is flat out useless. If I can't work on a project then what good is this software to me. I realise that any new piece of software is going to have bugs but that is what beta testing is all about. You don't release a piece of software for general use what it has this many problems. I am only talking about this problem right now but I have had many issues like everybody here and have wasted countless hours trying to fix or get around them. I am not saying that the product is bad because it has bugs, I'm saying that it shouldn't have been released until these problems were fixed.

The onlything I can sys is that it's a good thing I still have SI4 because I refuse to use 5 until it works - COMPLETELY

I have just noticed that if I open a non D-Tools Visio file while having a D-Tools Visio project open... the D-Tools menu is present for the non-D-Tools visio file and not present for the D-Tools visio project when changing between Visio windows.
