Default Printer Conflict

We recently purchased SI 5 and set about installing it last week. The programme was installed in a peer to peer environment because our server could not be used. The server and desktop installations were performed as outlined in the Installation Guide and all went well. Everyone was able to log on to the software as expected. The problem came when we tried to use the 2 printers attached to the computer acting as the server. Neither the printer attached directly nor the network printer would work. When I tried to access these printers from the control panel it told me that no drivers had been installed for these printers. No matter what we tried to get them printing, nothing worked. Eventually we did a system restore to some time prior to the D-Tools installation and sure enough they worked. Today I tried to reload D-Tools. Up to the point when the pre-installation was completed, the printers were working. Now that I have finished the LAN Sync part of the install, I'm getting the same problem w/ the printers.

Both printers are HP LaserJets. Has anyone ever experienced this before?
