Exclamation .NET Date/time String Error on XP SP2 while logging into Navigator via Lansync

Please help! I've just gone out and spent $$$ on a new PC to use as a D-Tools Server and it won't let me login!

The PC on which I've installed SI5 Lansync Server is a virgin XP SP2 box and I'm having an error message appear whenever I enter my username/password to login.

An error report window appears with a message:
"String not recognized as valid date/time."
The error is accompanied by a .NET Error trace which I've submitted to D-Tools yesterday.

It's quite strange because I have setup the SI5 client on two different PCs and could log in fine yesterday on one of the PCs. But after I rebooted the new LANSync Server box neither of my PCs running the SI5 client could login.

The database engine on the LANSync server is SQL Server Express 2005.

Can anybody help me? These .NET errors don't look good.

I am having exactly the same problem.

A fresh XP build running SP2 with nothing but SI5 Lan Sync on it.

I cant log in from either of my two client machines with exactly the same error as you.

Help!

Wink Cause Identified

Okay Josh-H and I have discovered that the date format we are using (dd/mm/yyyy) is causing this issue. When I changed my date format in the Control Panel > Regional Options to (mm/dd/yyyy) on the client machine we were able to log back in successfully.

Unfortunately this may cause other issues with date-sensitive software.

Am looking forward to the next patch, but I suggest you call it a "hotfix" like Microsoft does - that way it'll look like an improvement to an existing feature!

Just a friendly reminder - for urgent problems like these, it is best to contact support at http://www.d-tools.com/support/submit-an-issue.html or call +1 866 386 6571 during business hours.

And, yes, this will be repaired in a hotfix, which will be served up shortly.

Thanks Randy,

Don't get me wrong - tech support is excellent from Dustin & the team at D-Tools. I always send a copy of errors to http://www.d-tools.com/support/submit-an-issue.html or call the tech support line - but being in Australia, it does take a little for a response due to the time difference sometimes. (which can be frustrating for end users unfortunately)

Cheers,

Damo.
