Default Visio page name & number

So... has anyone else noticed that in SI5, the old way of changing the page name & number doesn't work?

Page name is simple... it is based on the Page name on the tab.

Page number is set as whatever the actual page number is. Any luck on being able to change that number to something like L1, P2, etc...

Sure.. draw a text box and edit it yourself, but I thought I'd ask around.

Also.. any thoughts on how to add the Background Title page to an existing 4.6 project that was converted? I guess it is sort of a "master" page.

Default Visio page number

Ran across the same problem. Guess they didn't use SI5 in the screen shots for the manual. No idea how to fix it. Didn't it used to be a menu item?

Kevin,

The first thing is that you need to know how to edit ALL of the Landscape Title Frame. This includes knowing how to use and modify the ShapeSheet. The second part is knowing how to use fields. And the third is a minor change of how you identify each drawing page while maintaining your current format. Let me know which part you need help with. If you'd like help with all three, that's fine too.

1. Yeah, in SI 5 there is a new Landscape Title Frame shape that auto populates those fields based on the tab name and position left to right. If you prefer to use the SI 4 Landscape Title Frame shape, it is still available to you. On any machine where you have SI 4 installed, that shape is in the C:\Program Files\D-Tools\SI 4\DT Annotations.vss. You can access this from within Visio by using File->Shapes->Open Stencil...
2. The behavior of the SI 5 Landscape Title Frame (appearing automatically on all pages without having to be dragged to the page) is because it is setup as a background page. To make a page a background page select File->Page Setup...->Page Properties tab and click the "Background" radio button. Any page where you want the frame to show up, select File->Page Setup...->Page Properties tab and select that page from the Background dropdown menu.

Note: you wouldn't want to do this with the SI 4 Title Frame since shapes displayed on a page from a background page cannot be edited.

Graham... I think I understand editing the landscape title frame, but if you would like to jot down a few notes for me to follow on the complete process I'd by more then happy to give it a try.

Senos... I have edited the new title frame and swapped my logo. And thanks for the clearification of how the background frame interacts with other pages... I figured it out the other day, but happy to read that I figured it out correctly.

Here is a visual representation of what I am talking about in the first post.
