I've been running SI4 over a vpn, but I got SI5 to work with me today...
I hit the same issue that you've been having... I found though, that by going into:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
and opening "hosts" with notepad... I added the (dedicated) IP address of the server, hit tab, and typed in the server name.
And, voila. Works like a charm.
